Menu

We would like to enrich and diversify our menu, so that it reflects children’s cultural backgrounds and offers dishes they enjoy at home. We would appreciate if parents could share with us their children’s favourite recipes, to enable us to include them in our weekly menu. Should you have any suggestions, please pass them on to us!

Programme news

Since last September, in accordance with Ofsted requirements, planning of activities does not concentrate around weekly topics. It is now child- centred and child- driven. Thus, through observing children at play, the key workers devise activities which will best reflect children’s interests. Recently, we have carried out a lot of activities about food. This has included: children making biscuits and milk shakes, having a little Japanese restaurant set up in the home corner, playing with ice cubes, and talking about hot and cold, weather, seasons and autumn.

Sickness

We have to ask all parents not to bring their child to the nursery when he/she is clearly feeling unwell. This request is made for the benefit of all children in the nursery! Our duty as carers for your children involves ensuring that we minimise spreading colds and infections among the children.

Toothbrushes

Could we ask all parents to bring new toothbrushes and new supplies of toothpaste.

Important dates for your calendar:

Pyjama Fun Day – 11th December

On that day we will be participating in fundraising event for Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre. Please let your child come to nursery in her or his pyjamas. We invite all parents to participate in our special breakfast on this day. The only condition is that the parents must wear pyjamas as well ( a pyjama top will suffice). We will appreciate if you could make a small donation to the charity. All parents will receive a letter explaining the event.

Christmas Party – 16th December

This year we have invited a professional entertainer to help us celebrate the Festive Season. The entertainer will come to the nursery at 3 o’clock for one hour. Children who do not attend the nursery on Tuesday are very welcome to come at 3 o’clock. All parents are invited!

Nursery closure

The nursery will close on 24th December (that is, the last day that it is open before the break is 23 Dec). We are back again on 5th January 2009.

Please note

We know that our cameras are not working. We are doing our best to solve this problem
and will let you know as soon as there is a resolution.

Hamster update
Dec 10, 2008

Dear Parents,

Our hamster has now been in residence in our nursery for about 6 months and looks pretty happy.  What is more important, children love her.  They call her Dora after the cartoon character 'Dora Explorer'.  Children help to feed her every day and watch her in her 'ball'.  She has a cage on the shelf and although hamsters are nocturnal Dora does not seem to mind to be woken up from time to time to explore the nursery in her 'ball'.  Children are taught to be gentle, caring and considerate and will hopefully have a similar approach to animals in their later life.
